Al-Qawī
The All-Powerful
Strength that knows no fatigue, depletion, or diminishment — the power of the Essence itself, which no resistance can affect.
The believer's realisation of Al-Qawī is not to imagine any share in that limitless strength, but to lean the whole weight of the heart upon the One whose power neither wearies nor wanes, while striving through the frail means Allah has entrusted to the servant. When trials press hard and the soul feels its own weakness, the believer turns to Al-Qawī with tawakkul, drawing courage not from within but from certainty that no resistance can stand before the strength of the Essence. Thus the servant labours in obedience, holds firm against desire, and bears patiently what Allah decrees — knowing that every flicker of resolve is a gift from Al-Qawī, and true might belongs to Him alone.
This is the most frequent Quranic pairing (e.g., 11:66, 22:40, 33:25, 42:19, 57:25, 58:21), balancing Al-Qawī's raw strength with Al-Aziz's unassailable might and honor, showing that God's power is never overcome or humiliated.
Paired in 8:52 and 40:22, this coupling contextualizes Al-Qawī's strength within divine justice, warning that His power is decisively directed against those who reject His signs and oppress others.
Joined in 42:19 ("Allah is Latif with His servants... and He is Al-Qawī, Al-Aziz"), this pairing balances overwhelming might with subtle, gentle kindness, teaching that God's immense power operates through tender care for His creation.
