Idris
A man of truth, raised to a high station
The Quran gives Idris only a few lines, but they are exact: he is named a man of truth and a prophet, and God raised him to a high station. No events are narrated — no people he was sent to, no confrontation, no outcome — only a character description and a single, striking honor. Where the Quran is this brief, this story stays brief too, rather than filling the space with detail the text itself does not give.
The Quran instructs its reader to mention Idris in the Book: indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet — and We raised him to a high station.
And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.
And We raised him to a high station.
Elsewhere Idris is named together with Ismail and Dhul-Kifl: all were of the patient, and We admitted them into Our mercy — indeed, they were of the righteous.
And [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient.
And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous.
